I received a very old Games Workshop Earth Elemental as part of an order the other day… what a hunk of metal it is! It really brought to light the differences in the manufacturing processes between then (late 80’s early 90’s) and now. I have fond memories of metal miniatures… I remember that the first miniatures I ever bought were a set of Deathwing Terminators from the Chester GW Store (and how different those miniatures are to their modern day counterparts!).
That said, plastics are SO much easier to work with! Needless to say I won’t be modifying this one too much.
But I did start with a basic painted miniature in the state that the client received it from an eBay sale.
I’m a fan of big bases so that was my first step… pinning and glueing the mini to a round lipped base.
Then a simple case of applying green stuff and some rocky outcrops. Sand next once the green stuff is dry!
I’ll update as this progresses!
EDIT : All of the sand is glued in place
